Use the Mac app for both pictures
The Mac beta offers Screen, Camera and Screen+camera choices. Screen with camera lets viewers see you while you show a task. The browser recorder does not yet offer this combined view.
Ask the development team about Mac beta access if you need it. Use an official app copy. There is no mobile app installation to follow in this guide.
Set up a short test
Open the Mac app and start its Record video flow. Prepare the task you plan to show before you begin.
- Choose the screen-and-camera view.
- Choose the screen source you want to show.
- Check the camera picture.
- Check which microphone you will use.
- Allow the screen, camera and microphone access you need.
- Record a short test with speech, camera movement and a screen action.
- Finish the take.
- Watch it with sound.
If macOS asks for access
Your Mac may ask for Screen & System Audio Recording access. Camera and Microphone have their own settings. The names can differ between Mac versions.
Giving Chrome access does not give the ScreenCandy app access. Close other apps if they block the camera or microphone. If a restart is needed, finish your take, import or export first.
Then quit and reopen the app.
Place your camera picture carefully
After recording, check the small camera picture in the Mac editor. Keep it away from buttons, text and steps viewers need to see. Watch the whole take, as later screens may have a different layout.
Move or resize the picture using the controls in your build. Check the finished MP4 too. Choose a screen-only take next time if your face does not help explain the task.
