Prepare the material you will show

A screen recording can show more than the main task. Names, addresses, tabs, messages and alerts may all appear. Your microphone may also pick up other voices.

ScreenCandy does not promise to hide all private details for you. Use made-up sample data where possible. Close work you do not need to show.

Choose one tab or window if a whole screen is unnecessary.

Check picture and sound

Make a short test to check what is really captured.

  1. Check the chosen source and every visible corner.
  2. Close or quiet unrelated alerts.
  3. Decide whether you need the microphone and shared sound.
  4. Check the room behind you if using a camera.
  5. Check the position of floating controls for a whole-screen take.
  6. Watch the full recording before saving or sharing it.
  7. Listen for private information in the sound too.

Check online saving and links

Before recording while signed in, check the Save video choice. If it is on, the app can try saving online after Stop. Online saving depends on your plan.

A private online copy is different from a viewing link. Anyone with an active link can watch and may pass it on. Choose who gets it and when it ends.

Stopping sharing cannot recall a downloaded or already loaded copy.

Ask about sensitive work first

Do not assume every smart tool works only on your Mac. Auto Polish can use OpenAI to review the script, or written recording text. Its screen can show which review was used.

This guide is not a full app privacy policy. Email hello@screencandy.online if you need a clear answer before using sensitive material. Keep passwords, payment details and private keys out of recordings.

Only record information that you have the right to use.
