Check the recording state

Choosing a source does not start a recording. First, ScreenCandy shows a live preview of what you chose. After you press Start recording, wait for the countdown to end.

Then begin your explanation. Keep the recorder page open during the take. Floating controls can help you reach Pause and Stop.

They may appear in a whole-screen recording, so check their position.

Pause and keep going

Use Pause when you need time to prepare the next step. Stopping screen sharing in the browser is a different action.

  1. Press Pause in the recording controls.
  2. Check that the state says Paused.
  3. Prepare the next step of your task.
  4. Press Resume when you are ready.
  5. Check that recording has started again before speaking.
  6. Press Stop & save when you have finished.
  7. Keep the page open until the video preview appears.

Watch the result

Play the start, the point where you paused, and the ending. Listen for missing words. Check that the final step is complete.

Use Download a copy to keep a file. Open that file outside the browser to test it. The browser may save MP4 or WebM, depending on its support.

This download does not add later Mac edits to the take.

If the controls or source disappear

Closing floating controls may leave the recording running. Return to the recorder page to check its state. Use the controls there to finish the take.

If screen sharing ended, inspect the saved result for a missing ending. Download any recovery copy before removing it. A recovery copy may contain only part of the take.

Test a short recording before longer work, as interrupted takes are still a beta limit.
